Die neuen Mails enthalten viele Aussagen zur MWP und Wissenschaftern, welche sich positiv zur Begrifflichkeit und/oder deren Ausdehnung äußerten. Broecker veröffentlichte 2001 in Science einen Artikel, in welchem er die Frage aufwarf, ob die MWP global gewesen ist - Was the Medieval Warm Period Global?
